Romanian Restaurant Association proposes turnover-based suspension periods for ANAF audits

The Romanian Restaurant Association proposes that the activity suspension period imposed by ANAF could be less than 30 days, and the threshold for such decisions should be established as a percentage of the restaurant’s turnover.
The President of the Romanian Restaurant Association, Dragos Petrescu, owner of City Grill units, stated that association members met with ANAF Vice President Romeo Nicolae and Dan Manolescu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, and hopes to reach an agreement resulting in clearer control procedures, so that restaurants are no longer closed for a minimum of 30 days over a 10-15 RON difference in the cash register, as ANAF is currently obliged to do.
Petrescu also stated that not all ANAF audits had negative results, and the number of restaurant closures is decreasing, as owners and employees are more careful, noting voluntary compliance.
The City Grill owner says that the association he leads has requested the Government to introduce a 9% VAT rate for restaurants in the Fiscal Code, as part of the tourism sector.
