Romanian-American Business Council launches online petition for US visa waiver

A group of Romanian businessmen, gathered in the non-governmental organization Romanian-American Business Council (RABC), headquartered in New York, is launching an online petition to lift entry visas for the territory of the United States of America and hopes to collect 1 million signatures by the end of May.

The petition was launched on the occasion of the inauguration of the RABC Romania branch, an organization that will be led by Marius Pandel, Managing Partner of Christian Tour.

The signature collection campaign is part of the efforts carried out by the non-governmental organization to accept Romania into the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), including lobbying actions with American congressmen.

The Romanian-American Business Council supports the Visa Waiver Program for Romania, which aims to eliminate visas for Romanian citizens, with the help of the Senate and Judicial Committees, which will support VWP reforms within the United States Congress.

These reforms will eventually allow Romania to join the other 37 countries already part of the Visa Waiver Program and will open new premises for bilateral development between the United States and Romania.

Currently, Romania has a US visa refusal rate of over 10%, and the main condition for a country to get rid of visas is that in the last year, at most 3% of visa applications were refused.

During President Barack Obama’s term, the issue of increasing the 3% threshold to a higher percentage was raised to make it easier for states that meet the maximum refusal rate level to enter Visa Waiver, a law that must pass through Congress.

Romanian American Business Council (RABC) is a non-governmental organization headquartered in New York, consisting of over a hundred businessmen from various fields, such as finance, health, environment, infrastructure, marketing, and defense.
