Romania to Host the South East Europe Semifinal of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition

Romania will host, for the first time, the South East Europe Semifinal of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy competition, a landmark event dedicated to discovering and promoting the next generation of culinary talent globally. Now in its seventh edition, the initiative provides young Romanian chefs with an international exposure platform and the opportunity to define new culinary standards and identities within an accelerating gastronomic context.

The competition is open to chefs aged 18 to 30, who can submit their applications until June 9, 2026. The selection process involves presenting a “signature dish” that reflects three essential pillars: technical skills, creativity, and personal vision. Applications will be initially evaluated by ALMA – International School of Italian Culinary Arts, the institution responsible for determining the finalists for the 15 regional stages organized worldwide.

The South East Europe Semifinal is scheduled for October 26–27, 2026, in Romania. The winner of this stage will represent the region in the Grand Finale in Milan, planned for 2027. In addition to the main title, participants can compete for three complementary awards: the S.Pellegrino Social Responsibility Award, the Acqua Panna Connection in Gastronomy Award, and the Fine Dining Lovers Food for Thought Award. The current edition also introduces an expanded mentorship program designed to provide professional guidance to young chefs even after the competition concludes.

Previous performances by Romanian chefs confirm the local potential in this contest: in the last edition, Alin Vădean won the social responsibility award, while Bogdan Panaite took third place in the regional final. In Romania, Sanpellegrino S.p.A. group products are distributed by PPD Global Romania, part of the Photos Photiades Group. Present on the local market since 2007, the distributor is a strategic partner for global leaders in the industry, such as Diageo, Gruppo Campari, and Nestlé Waters.
