Romania is promoted in Germany at the International Tourism Fair in Frankfurt

The Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) promoted Romania at the International Tourism Fair “IMEX” in Frankfurt, Germany, on 20-22 May. Romania’s stand had a total area of 61.5 square meters, with three open sides, and was positioned in the European area of the fair, with neighbors such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Scotland, Cyprus. The stand presented images of important tourist attractions in Romania, as well as tourist promotion movies from the series culture, adventure, nature, traditions, city break.

According to organizers, some 12,000 event professionals attended the 2024 edition. Of these, over 4,200 were buyers and 3,221 were invited buyers from 83 countries. In previous years, Romania’s stand was visited by around two hundred hosted buyers annually, divided into groups or individually, who were given detailed presentations about Romania as a tourist destination and the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions) industry in our country. A large part of the revenue generated by incoming business comes from the events sector. Before the pandemic, the MICE industry accounted for 50% of the total tourism receipts in Romania, according to previous analysis.

This segment of the hospitality industry generates a positive image and substantial revenues for the destination in which it takes place.
