The Digital Nomad Index, conducted by the British telecommunications company Circle Loop, analyzes 85 countries based on criteria such as rent expenses, mobile and broadband internet speed and cost, to identify the best countries for remote working in 2021.
The ranking is led by Canada, with a score of 73.35 points, followed by the United Kingdom with 63.53 points and Romania with 62.28 points.
One of the world’s main technology hubs, Canada was also the most searched destination for remote working on recruitment sites last year, according to the ranking’s creators.

The top 10 best countries for remote work in 2021 is completed by Sweden, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Australia, Switzerland and Germany. Among Romania’s neighboring states, Hungary ranks 12th with a score of 59.12 points, while Bulgaria is in 62nd position with 43.62 points. The United States ranks 52nd in the global ranking with 49.27 points.
