The Radisson Blu Hotel in Cluj-Napoca, operated by Winners Park Invest and inaugurated in the summer of 2022, will open a new wing of the complex in November. The expansion, started last year, aims to strengthen its position in the premium segment by adding new facilities for business, travel and lifestyle customers, responding to the growing demand for integrated services in the local hotel market.
The new wing will add 20 premium rooms and suites, characterized by generous spaces, along with new conference rooms, a spa, a skybar, two restaurants and a garden. According to Nina Moldovan, Winners’ board chairwoman, the development is a response to the dynamics of the market, where hotels must compete with the hotel suite offering by providing complete experiences that include dining, wellness and event options. The investment complements the offering of a hotel that, prior to the conversion, was the Sport Hotel, a two-star, subsequently downgraded establishment.
The decision to radically convert the former building from a three-star to a five-star hotel was based on the potential of the location, which is close to the main event venues in Cluj-Napoca, such as the Polivalent Hall and the stadium. Nina Moldovan emphasized that the success of the project was due to both this strategic positioning and the absence of an international luxury hotel brand in the city at the time. The reconversion process involved major challenges, requiring a complete reconfiguration of the initially very small interior spaces to meet the strict standards of the five-star classification.
