The Parliament of Romania has adopted a draft law that extends the possibility of renting parking spaces from town halls, granting a right of pre-emption to both hotels and restaurants. This measure extends the provisions of Emergency Ordinance 150/2024, adopted at the end of 2024, which initially targeted only hotel units.
According to the amendments introduced in the Chamber of Deputies, hotel units and restaurants will have priority in renting parking spaces from the public or private property of administrative-territorial units, located at a distance of less than 50 meters from their premises. The rental price will be determined through a public auction, organized according to the Administrative Code. To enter into force, the law must be promulgated by the president and published in the Official Gazette.
