Paxport enters Romania to digitalize tourism

European travel technology provider Paxport is entering the Romanian market, aiming to accelerate the digitization of a fragmented sector lagging behind Western Europe. With more than half of European travel companies already using artificial intelligence solutions, the local launch of Paxport’s platforms for additional services, flight aggregation and digital payments represents a major opportunity for Romanian airlines, tour operators and agencies to streamline their operations, increase revenues and offer customers a travel experience comparable to that of mature markets.

The tourism industry in Romania faces a significant digital divide compared to Western European markets, where over 58% of accommodation providers use chatbots and 52% use dynamic pricing tools. In contrast, many local operations still rely on manual processes, which limits efficiency and monetization potential. European technology company Paxport aims to address this discrepancy by introducing an ecosystem of digital solutions designed to modernize the sector. “We believe Romania is ready for the next step. Technology can help the tourism industry become more efficient, generate higher revenues and deliver superior customer experiences,” said Johanna Strand, Head of Commercial at Paxport AB.

To increase revenues for airlines and tour operators, the company is bringing to market PaxShop, a digital platform for the automated sale of additional services. It allows customization of offers, from selecting a location and adding luggage to transfers and activities at the destination, opening up new revenue streams. Soon, the platform will also integrate an AI-powered chatbot to streamline customer service.

The operational efficiency of travel agencies is targeted through PaxFaB, a platform that provides, through a single technical connection, access to flight offers from over 100 airlines, including low-cost operators, charters and NDC providers. The system, which processes over 12 million searches daily, eliminates the need to manage dozens of separate integrations, simplifying the booking process and increasing conversion rates.

Another major industry challenge, payment management, is addressed by the Pax2Pay solution. It transforms payments from a cost center into a source of profitability through the use of virtual cards, real-time transfers and offering transaction rebates, reducing the complexity of reconciliation and the costs associated with international transfers. The payments platform is available in 35 countries and processes around 1.3 billion transactions annually. EUR.
