If in a typical month about 11-12% of those who buy plane tickets from local portals are Romanians working abroad, in December this percentage rises to 20%.
According to Paravion, during the winter holidays, the number of Romanians abroad returning home by plane who buy tickets online increases by more than 50%.
To attract this segment, Paravion has developed versions of the portal in the languages of countries with significant Romanian communities over recent years. Thus, Paravion.es, Paravion.it, Paravion.com.uk, and Paravion.com.cy were launched.
Among the Romanians returning home for the holidays, 82% buy tickets to Bucharest, with Cluj-Napoca in 2nd place at only 2%.
The top countries they come from is led by the United Kingdom, with 20%, followed by Spain, Cyprus, Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Greece.
The increase in plane ticket sales is also due to low-cost companies, which have more and more routes and flight frequencies to countries with Romanian communities.
