Paralela 45 estimates that over 10,000 Romanians will spend their May 1st mini-holiday abroad, 10% more than last year, with seaside resorts and city breaks being the most sought-after.
Although the majority of tourists choose Bulgaria or vacations under 100 euros, a new category of tourists has emerged in recent years, seeking to combine city breaks with the seaside at a much lower price
than in peak season, the agency shows.
Daniela Dumitrica, Marketing Director at Paralela 45, stated that the May 1st holiday is most often planned a few weeks in advance and offers are selected primarily by price. If offers have rates 30% lower than in peak season, Romanians are tempted to give up Bulgaria in favor of more attractive offers, even if they are slightly more expensive. This year, the agency sold very well stays in Rome, Lisbon, and Cyprus, with the latter two allowing for sunbathing, and the budget allocated for such a vacation amounts to about 500 EUR/person.
Other circuits starting to be in demand are in Amsterdam, Helsinki, and Saint Petersburg.
Paralela 45 owns a national network of 40 direct or franchised agencies, ended last year with a turnover of 40 million EUR, and has nearly 200 employees. For the current year, the agency aims to reach a business volume of over 45 million EUR.
