Otopeni Airport to Benefit from Investments Totaling Approx. 1 Billion RON
In the coming years, Henri Coandă International Airport will benefit from massive investments. Rehabilitation and modernization works totaling nearly 1 billion RON, according to data provided by the Bucharest National Airports Company (CNAB), which manages the Băneasa and Otopeni airports.
Currently, 45 airlines operate at Henri Coandă International Airport.
Among the investments scheduled for Otopeni Airport are:
- systematization of the movement surface at Otopeni Airport, in order to increase operational capacity and ensure compliance with R139/2014;
- rehabilitation and modernization works for runway 1, including connections to taxiways;
- modernization of the Departures baggage belt system;
- water-sewerage rehabilitation works including external hydrants – consultancy, design, execution of works;
- interior redesign of the public area in the Arrivals and Departures Terminals;
- Integrated Management Center;
- northern expansion of aircraft parking platform no. 1;
- installation of an access canopy for the Arrivals Terminal;
- modernization and consolidation of the multi-story Arrivals parking lot.
Authorities announced several years ago that they would build a new terminal at Otopeni Airport, where only one terminal currently operates. The project was last estimated at 1 billion EUR, but currently, all documentation is being re-analyzed.
