Ocna Șugatag Declared National Tourist Resort

Ocna Șugatag in Maramureș County has been certified as a tourist resort of national interest, according to a Government Decision approved on Thursday, alongside 12 localities certified as tourist resorts of local interest.

On October 22, the Government of Romania, at the initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Business Environment, adopted the Draft Government Decision for the approval of the certification of certain localities or parts of localities as tourist resorts of national, respectively local interest, and for the amendment of Annex no. 5 to Government Decision no. 852/2008 for the approval of the norms and criteria for certifying tourist resorts.

The commune of Ocna Șugatag (Maramureș County) was certified as a tourist resort of national interest, while the localities of Anina (Caraș-Severin County), Cavnic (Maramureș County), Dorna-Arini (Suceava County), Ghioroc (Arad County), Gura Siriului (Buzău County), Sadova (Suceava County), Săcele (Brașov County), Sânnicolau Mare (Timiș County), Sighetu Marmației (Maramureș County), Ștei (Bihor County), Tulucești (Galați County), Vatra Moldoviței (Suceava County), as well as the tourist area of Borș commune (Bihor County), were certified as tourist resorts of local interest.
