Ministry of Tourism to Re-establish External Promotion Offices and Expand Internal Representations

On June 26, the Ministry of Tourism announced the completion of the procedure to amend GD 24/2017 regarding the functioning of the Ministry of Tourism, which provides, among other things, for the re-establishment of Romania’s external promotion offices.

The new draft normative act provides for the establishment of 20 external representations in the most important markets for Romanian tourism.

“Unlike the old formula, each external office will have two employees, tourism attaches. The new measure intensifies efforts to promote Romania as a major international tourist destination. Thus, the project provides for a number of 40 tourism attaches who will work abroad,” the Ministry of Tourism informed.

In addition, the project also provides for the establishment of 5 new internal territorial representations in Bucharest, Suceava, Harghita, Sibiu, and Bistrita-Nasaud. Currently, 12 territorial representations operate within the Internal Tourism Service.
