Ministry of Tourism Sets Internal and External Objectives

The Ministry of Tourism has set its priorities and objectives both domestically and internationally to encourage national tourism and attract foreign tourists to Romania.
According to the institution’s data, two major programs are planned for implementation domestically.
The first refers to the “First Leisure Center,” aimed at supporting private investments in tourism infrastructure, which will significantly contribute to diversifying the tourism offer throughout Romania. The second concerns holiday vouchers for public sector employees.
At the same time, the Ministry of Tourism will develop a Masterplan for tourism infrastructure investments and a National Strategy for tourism development and promotion.
A Tourism Law will be drafted together with tourism employer associations and non-governmental organizations that promote Romania’s tourism offer.
One of the main objectives is related to increasing the number of tourists in areas that have been undervalued until now, located near Romania’s recognized tourism hubs.
Internationally, the Ministry aims to promote Romania as a holiday destination for foreign citizens, and Romania’s tourism destinations and offers will be presented in a targeted manner on foreign markets.
The Danube Delta, a unique natural reserve in Europe, will be a general tourist attraction. The Carpathian Mountains can become the preferred holiday destination for foreign tourists who want to enjoy nature or those eager for hiking, mountain sports, and adventure.
In the short-term strategy for promoting Romania abroad, the opening of new representation offices in several countries that can generate tourists is being considered.
Additionally, the Ministry, in partnership with tourism employer associations and local public authorities, will run info-trip programs for both foreign journalists and opinion leaders or specialists in niche tourism segments (medical, spa, business).
