Marius Cristescu: Clisura Dunării could become one of the most important attractions for foreign tourists if the state invested in this area

One of the most powerful businessmen in Romania, consistently ranked in the top ten of the wealthiest Romanians,
Businessman Marius Cristescu believes that Clisura Dunării, one of the most picturesque places in Romania, could also become one of the most important attraction points for foreign tourists if the state invested in two tourist ports, with customs points, so that foreigners coming on cruises can disembark and take day trips in the area.
He estimates that Caraș-Severin and Mehedinți counties would double their number of tourists in the first year following these investments.
„Clisura Dunării can be as important for Romanian tourism as the Black Sea, because the length of the Danube in that area, from the entrance into the country to the Iron Gates, exceeds the length of the Romanian coastline. Clisura can be the future El Dorado of Romanian tourism if the state builds two tourist ports in the area, with customs points, so that foreigners coming on Danube cruises can disembark and take day trips," stated Marius Cristescu.
Clisura Dunării, Cristescu claims, is considered at the European level as the most beautiful place along a river’s course on the continent, but, despite this, Romania does not know how to attract foreign tourists to the area.
