The four-star Rin Airport Otopeni hotel, located near Henri Coandă Airport, Otopeni, will undergo a modernization process following an investment estimated at 4.5 million EUR, according to Ionuţ Negoiţă, the hotel’s owner.
The hotel features 258 rooms, 16 conference rooms, and a spa center; last year it had an average occupancy rate of 58% and a turnover of 25 million RON.
Renovation works have already begun at this hotel and completion is estimated by the summer of 2025.
Rin Airport Otopeni, located on Calea Călăraşilor in Otopeni, is the former Confort hotel, rebranded under this new name.
Rin Grand Hotel, originally built as the largest hotel on the local market and which closed permanently to tourists in 2022, will be transformed into apartments; its conversion is still ongoing. The 1,460-room hotel was opened in 2007 near the Vitan car market in the capital, following an investment of 60 million EUR. In 2017, when it was opened, it was announced as the largest hotel in Europe, but the pandemic affected bookings, and it was subsequently closed.
Ionuţ Negoiţă is a former majority shareholder of the Dinamo Bucharest football team, with businesses in tourism, one of the largest residential project developers in the capital, and the founder of HILS Development, which is building the HILS Pallady and HILS Brauner projects in eastern Bucharest.
Brothers Ionuţ and Robert Negoiţă, the mayor of Sector 3, began developing businesses in Romania after working in construction in Yugoslavia and France, where they gathered part of the money they would invest in the country. In 1998, when the company Pro Confort was established, the Negoiţă brothers began doing business by selling carpets brought from Belgium. The hotel and real estate businesses began to develop after the Negoiţă brothers bought a 13,000 square meter plot of land in the Otopeni area in 2002, on which they later developed the Confort hotel, establishing the Pro Hotels company. This strategy was based on building the largest hotel in Europe, Rin Grand Hotel, as well as other hotels: Traian (currently Rin Central), Confort Otopeni, and Rin Otopeni.
