Starting January 1, 2022, following the termination of the management contract between Compania Hoteliera InterContinental Romania SA and IHG Hotels & Resorts, the owner of the InterContinental brand, the InterContinental Bucharest hotel will change its name to Grand Hotel Bucharest.
The 5-star hotel will undergo renovation. The works are planned to conclude in 2024, with an estimated investment value of EUR 21 million, aiming to position Grand Hotel Bucharest as the top luxury hotel in the capital.
”During the renovation works, the hotel will only partially close and will continue its activity. The funding sources are the company’s own; it is also possible to access a bank loan. The last renovation works were carried out in 2008,” stated Lucian Marinescu, a member of the company’s Board of Directors.
The improvements will focus on increasing the quality of guest experiences, enhancing the service structure, and aligning with international trends in design and hospitality, the company announced.
The 5-star hotel features 22 floors, 257 rooms and suites, a Club Lounge on the 21st floor, a spa center with an indoor pool on the 22nd floor, two restaurants, and over 1,500 sqm of conference space.
