Despite record revenues, the sector’s cumulative profits continued the downward trend that began after the 2022 peak, recording a net profit balance of EUR 127.91 million, while the number of employees in the sector fell by 6% over the last 17 years.
The analysis conducted on NACE codes 5510 and 5520 shows that of the more than 22,230 companies in the field, nearly 20,040 are active, and 10,640 submitted their 2025 financial statements by mid-July 2026. Compared to 2008, when turnover totaled under EUR 0.86 billion, the market grew by 162%, outpacing inflation of over 120%. Nevertheless, the net margin relative to the net profit balance stood at 5.71% in 2025, down from 7.68% in 2024 and below the record level of 19.3% recorded in 2022. The market’s cumulative net profit amounted to EUR 244.69 million, while aggregate net losses reached EUR 117.64 million.
Regarding the workforce, the sector employed 43,025 people in 2025, below the peak of 48,629 people reached in 2019. However, average productivity per employee relative to turnover rose to EUR 52,076.
