Holiday vouchers will also be granted in the next 2 years

The Government will grant holiday vouchers to public sector employees in the next two years, 2019 and 2020, but at the level of 1,450 RON, which was previously established for 2017 and 2018.
It was previously announced that the value of the vouchers would be frozen for next year. Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă announced that the Government will adopt an emergency ordinance to this effect. Normally, employees in the public sector benefit from a holiday allowance at the level of a minimum gross basic salary in the country, which this year was 1,900 RON, and from January 1, 2019, will exceed 2,000 RON.
The Government is thus postponing the update of the voucher value for two years, arguing that their increase would lead to a significant negative impact on the state budget and implicitly on local budgets, in the context of the salary increases already produced, as well as the increase of the minimum wage in the economy.
According to Government data, the granting between July 1, 2017 – November 30, 2018 of holiday allowances or holiday bonuses, as the case may be, in the form of holiday vouchers, worth 1,450 RON, allowed a number of 1.2 million Romanians, employees of state institutions or companies in which the state is the sole or majority shareholder, to spend their holidays in the country.
