The Finnish fast-food restaurant chain Hesburger has opened a new unit within Cosmopolis Plaza, following an investment of EUR 1 million. The expansion of the commercial network within the largest integrated residential project in Romania confirms the trend of developing retail services in areas with increasing demographic density, complementing the urban infrastructure of the complex.
The new restaurant occupies 223 square meters and has a total seating capacity of 62 seats, of which 30 are indoors and 32 on the terrace. The unit includes facilities such as vending machines, WiFi access and a drive-in service. Ieva Salmela, Director of International Communications & Marketing at Hesburger, said that this opening capitalizes on the momentum the company has gained since entering the Romanian market, aiming to deliver sustainable products to the new community.
The unit joins the tenant mix at Cosmopolis Plaza, a retail park opened in 2023 by developer Opus Land Development. Covering 20,000 square meters, the shopping center brings together more than 70 retailers, including major retailers such as Carrefour, Lidl, C&A, Pepco, Sinsay, Jysk, Noriel, CCC, Spartan, Domino’s Pizza and 5 to Go. World Class also operates the largest fitness club in the north of Bucharest.
Ozan Tuncer, CEO of Cosmopolis, sees the investment as a validation of the project’s long-term potential and its role as a landmark for integrated urban development. The residential development has so far attracted investments in excess of €455 million and is home to a community of more than 17,000 residents. The complex’s infrastructure continues to expand, including parks, swimming pools and educational facilities, with the Mark Twain International School campus opening this fall. The developer estimates that by 2035, the project will integrate more than 12,000 homes and a community of about 35,000 people.
