Government considers lowering VAT to 9% for the entire tourism sector

The Government is considering lowering VAT to 9% for the entire tourism sector, stated Prime Minister Victor Ponta at the opening of the Tourism Fair at Romexpo, which took place between March 12-15.
"Two recent initiatives were mentioned here that are meant to fundamentally support the development of tourism. Firstly, the reduction of VAT to 9% for all-inclusive packages and for the catering area. I understood the subtle hint that we should extend this 9% regime to everything related to tourism, and I believe this extremely legitimate grievance will be found in the new Fiscal Code," declared Victor Ponta.
