Government approved a Memorandum on the “First Leisure Center” program

On February 16, the Government approved a Memorandum regarding the „First Leisure Center” program, which aims to support investments in the infrastructure necessary for leisure activities. The Executive will provide state guarantees to those who want to establish and develop centers of this type, up to a maximum value of 240,000 EUR.
This program aims to stimulate private initiative by facilitating access to financing, creating and maintaining jobs, as well as extending the tourist season.
At the same time, credit institutions are encouraged to create specific financing products for this segment. The facility of granting state guarantees for investment loans will be intended for eligible SMEs in the tourism sector that aim to establish/develop leisure centers.
The implementation of the „First Leisure Center” program will contribute to increasing Romania’s attractiveness as a tourist destination by diversifying the offer in this sector and will result in sustainable economic development by exploiting resources that have been insufficiently utilized until now, the Executive states.
