Gheorghe Fodoreanu: Romania could receive 20 million foreign tourists

Romania can receive 10 times more foreign tourists every year. More specifically, 20 million, instead of 2.5 million, as shown by statistics, stated Gheorghe Fodoreanu, president of Invitation Romania.
As such, Romania can earn 20 billion EUR annually from tourism, and the contribution to GDP can be 20% and not 2%, as it is currently.
He considers that Romania’s incoming potential has several “black spots,” which, by eliminating them, could ensure a huge jump in the number of foreign tourists who would opt for our country.
For this, he says, the following directions must be developed: the global offer of balneoclimateric tourism, with the revival of the image around the Gerovital product and the Romanian seaside; the ski and mountain tourism offer; local and national events proposed to the economic, cultural, sports, and political environments; the exploitation of unique themes in Europe: Bran Castle and the legend of Dracula, the Danube Delta, Romania’s rural potential, Transylvania and the role of Prince Charles as a tourism ambassador for Romania, the 209 castles, the 1,060 kilometers of the Danube River that pass through our territory.
