On December 13, low-cost airline Wizz Air announced the expansion of its operations in Cluj-Napoca starting March 2017, through the acquisition of the sixth aircraft for its Cluj-Napoca fleet, as well as the opening of six new routes to Stockholm, Bratislava, Baden-Baden, Frankfurt, Larnaca, and Malta.
The sixth aircraft, which will join the Cluj-Napoca fleet in March 2017, represents an additional investment of EUR 98 million made by Wizz Air in Romania.
From Cluj-Napoca, the airline also operates flights to and from Basel, Barcelona, Nuremberg, Milan Bergamo, Dortmund, and London Luton.
Between December 1, 2015, and November 30, 2016, Wizz Air transported over 1.3 million passengers to and from its Cluj-Napoca base.
Wizz Air estimates it will reach a market share of 30.2% in Romania for the full year 2016, an increase of 1.1% compared to 2015.
