Florin Jianu, former Minister for SMEs, Business Environment, and Tourism, is developing, alongside Dragos Anastasiu, owner of the Eurolines Romania group, and other tourism players, a professional training program for tourism managers, amid the acute shortage of qualified personnel in the industry. The project is funded through the Human Capital Operational Program 2014-2020, with European funds.
Among the industry players attracted to the project are Calin Ile, president of the Romanian Hotel Industry Federation and general manager of IBIS Continental Hotels, Razvan Pirjol, president of Skal International Bucharest and Bucharest Tourism Board and director of the Suter Palace hotel, and Micut Constantin, Senior Associate at Trend Hospitality.
Until May of next year, courses are organized for 600 professionals in Romanian tourism operating in the South-West, Center, and South-East regions, with mentoring and coaching also provided for 200 industry professionals, intensive courses for Human Resources teams in these regions, as well as networking and communication between the main tourism stakeholders active in the three targeted regions.
The project includes the Seaside, the Danube Delta, the Prahova Valley, as well as counties with potential such as Alba Iulia, Valcea, Gorj, Mehedinti, and Vrancea.
