The first river cruise ship of the year has arrived in Romania. Approximately 90 German tourists, mostly retirees, disembarked last week in the port of Tulcea, stated Leontin Șerbănescu, Director of the Cruise Department at Karpaten Turism.
Danube cruise tourism was supposed to begin in March, but it has not been operational until now due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The ship, which arrived from Germany via the Danube, has two stops in Romania: in Tulcea, to visit the Danube Delta, and in Oltenița, for an excursion to Bucharest.
The vessel operates under very strict hygiene conditions, with one-way traffic flows on the decks; tourists are allowed to move in one direction on a specific deck and return via another corridor. The air conditioning is treated to ensure cleanliness, there are strict protocols for meals, and dining takes place in two shifts. The next ships scheduled to arrive in the port of Tulcea also carry German tourists.
