The economic crisis in Russia and the conflict in eastern Ukraine have caused a large number of Russian tourists, as well as those from the former Soviet space, to give up summer vacations in Turkey, Greece, and Bulgaria—countries that have lowered package prices this year, stated Alin Burcea, owner of Paralela 45.
He stated that this entire situation, added to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, is causing other tourists from former Soviet countries to also forgo summer stays abroad.
“These countries are also preferred by Romanian tourists for summer vacations. Therefore, we can say that Putin’s policy, which generated the situation in Russia and the region, is making vacations cheaper for Romanian tourists as well,” Burcea specified.
He declared that an increasingly sought-after destination for Romanians for the summer, besides Turkey, Greece, and Bulgaria, is Spain, with Romanian agencies operating several weekly charters to the coastal resorts in this country.
