On May 2nd, the European Commission launched a new call for applications for DiscoverEU travel passes, which allow 18-year-old Europeans to travel for free within the community space.
In the previous two rounds of the program, held in 2018, nearly 5,570 young people from Romania applied, with a total of 1,112 individuals selected. 18-year-olds in the European Union can submit their applications until May 16, 2019. Candidates must have been born between July 2, 2000 (inclusive) and July 1, 2001 (inclusive) and be prepared to travel between August 1, 2019 and January 31, 2020, for a maximum period of 30 days. Those interested in participating can apply through the European Youth Portal.
For this second year of DiscoverEU, the European Commission is focusing on enhancing the learning dimension of the project. Participants will receive information and travel suggestions regarding what they can visit in Europe.
For 2019, the European Parliament approved a budget of 16 million EUR for DiscoverEU.
