EUR 2.32 million renovation at the Bălți Theatre

The “Vasile Alecsandri” National State Theatre in the municipality of Bălți, a cultural landmark and architectural monument of major importance for the north of the Republic of Moldova, is currently undergoing a major renovation. The urban revitalization project benefits from an investment of EUR 2.32 million (12.2 million lei), intended to secure the building and protect local heritage.

The works, implemented by the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord), aim at rehabilitating the roof with an area of over 4,100 square meters. Currently, rainwater collection and snow melting systems are being installed on site, a stage following the installation of sandwich panels above the foyer and administrative spaces. Technical progress and compliance with quality standards were evaluated during a monitoring visit attended by representatives of ADR Nord, the theatre management, contractor, designer, and site manager. The investment is funded by the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, with a co-financing component from the theatre, and will ensure optimized conditions for the institution’s 104 employees and approximately 34,000 annual visitors.
