€78.52 Million Tender for A0 – Otopeni Airport Link

The National Road Investment Company (CNIR) has submitted the documentation required for the validation of the tender for the link road between the A0 Bucharest North Motorway and the future Terminal 2 of the Henri Coandă International Airport to the National Agency for Public Procurement (ANAP). The project, valued at over €78.52 million, is considered a strategic step for regional infrastructure development and for optimizing access to the country’s main airport.

The new road connection, with a length of 2.55 kilometers, will reduce travel time between the ring motorway and the airport from approximately 20 minutes on the current network to just two minutes. Located in the Tunari area of Ilfov County, the route will start from kilometer 29 of the A0 motorway through a cloverleaf-type interchange. Gabriel Budescu, General Manager of CNIR, stated that the investment is imperative for the development of the new terminal and will also facilitate freight transport in the airport’s Cargo area.

Technical plans include the construction of overpasses over DJ 200 B and the A0 North motorway to ensure traffic flow, along with a roundabout that will facilitate the connection with the county road on the Tunari – A0 – Balotești route. The entire project has an estimated implementation schedule of 30 months, a period that includes both the design phase and the actual execution of the construction works.
