Two young entrepreneurs, Alex Filip and Dragos Asaftei, coordinators of the Eventur group, recently launched Bucharest’s first mobile application that keeps Romanians updated on city events. They invested €25,000 in the development of the Bucharest City App, funded exclusively from their own resources.
Bucharest City App prioritizes upcoming events in Bucharest, followed by venues, tourist attractions, shops, spas, and even 24-hour pharmacies. This makes it primarily an app for locals and expats, and secondarily for foreign tourists.
The application is free and can be downloaded on iOS and Android smartphones.
Additionally, the app features evening and nightlife activities, traditional food spots, and several tourist routes in Bucharest, including one focused on communism, detailing main sights, distances, and estimated travel times.
Furthermore, the app includes a database with a metro map, taxi companies, car rental services, airlines, hotels, travel agencies, and provides directions for navigating the city.
Bucharest City App was developed by 14 IT specialists from a firm in Sibiu over six months and is among the few city-specific mobile applications developed in Europe.
The most well-known mobile apps for foreign tourists are TripAdvisor and Spotted by Locals, which serve as travel guides for numerous global destinations, including Bucharest.
