€177,000 Investment in the Development of Tamina Canyon in the Piatra Mare Massif

The development project for Tamina Canyon in the Piatra Mare Massif involves the construction of stairs, chain-suspended bridges, and a viewpoint area. The project costs local authorities between 700,000 and 800,000 RON (€177,000) and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2016, stated Cristian Popa, head of the tourism service at the Săcele Local Forestry Administration.
The project belongs to the Săcele Local Forestry Administration in Brașov County, and the investment funds come from the entry fees collected at the 7 Ladders Canyon, which was also refurbished by the Săcele Local Forestry Administration.
The main attraction in the canyon is the Tamina Waterfall at an altitude of 1,100 m. The waterfall actually consists of 7 drops ranging between 5 and 15 m. To allow tourists to enter the canyon and admire the waterfall, local authorities will build stairs, bridges, and a suspended walkway 110 m above the canyon. The most spectacular bridge is located at an altitude of 1,300 m and has a length of 152 m.
