Cramele Recaș Acquires Shares in Wine Producer Tenuta Odobești

Cramele Recaș, one of the largest local wine producers and the leading wine exporter, has announced its expansion into Romania’s largest viticultural area through the acquisition of a portion of the shares in local bottled wine, bulk wine, and must producer Tenuta Odobești in Vrancea.

The strategic partnership will complement the Cramele Recaș portfolio with new sparkling wines vinified via the traditional method, marketed nationally through its own distribution network.

“Taking into account that we have doubled our turnover in the last seven years, constantly opening new export markets, we are pleased to announce our expansion into Vrancea through this acquisition, in the form of a long-term partnership developed alongside Tenuta Odobești. This decision stems from the need to constantly increase our production, considering that in our area there are no more available surfaces to be cultivated with vines. We believe this strategic step represents a good opportunity to combine our expertise and history in creating quality wines with the passion and tradition that Tenuta Odobești, under the leadership of Fabrizio Mosconi, allocates to the entire winemaking process. While the experience of winemaker Marco Zizioli (member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the Franciacorta Consortium – Italy) will ensure the vinification of exceptional sparkling wines, the contribution of Cramele Recaș will be brought through the coordination of the still wine production process by Elena Alejos (winemaker-consultant for wine producers in the Marlborough – New Zealand and Jerez – Spain regions, with 22 years of experience, four of which were at Cramele Recaș) and Matteo Lappi (winemaker-consultant for Italian producers, with four years of experience at Cramele Recaș). From the very first year, we plan for a large part of our investment budget to be allocated to developing the winemaking and bottling processes at this winery, with the aim of completing our domestic and foreign product portfolio with new wine assortments. We are convinced that through continuous collaboration and the exchange of expertise, we will succeed in launching new products on the market that cater to the taste requirements of wine consumers in Romania and abroad,” stated the representatives of Cramele Recaș.

Cramele Recaș ranks first in the Romanian wine market according to turnover and is also the largest exporter of bottled wines from Romania, responsible for approximately 62% of all local wine reaching across the border. The producer has partnerships in several countries, including: the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Norway, Belgium, as well as Ireland, South Korea, Australia, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. Cramele Recaș operates an area of approximately 1,200 hectares of vines located in Recaș, benefiting from a production and storage capacity of approximately 35,000,000 liters per year.
