Chisinau International Airport remained operational during severe weather, unlike other European airports affected by the weather

The “Eugen Doga” International Airport in Chisinau continued to operate without disruption despite the severe weather conditions characterized by heavy snowfall, low temperatures and ice deposits. According to the administration, all air flights were operated safely and without incident, and passengers were able to continue their journeys according to the schedule.

Airport officials said that the intensity of this weather event is rare, with similar conditions having occurred only three times in the last 50 years, when, historically, the airport was suspended due to inoperable infrastructure. On this occasion, the maintenance of functionality was facilitated by modern technical equipment, sufficient stocks of intervention materials and the rapid mobilization of service teams, which ensured continuous de-icing of runways and aprons.

While several European airports had to temporarily suspend their operations due to similar weather phenomena, Eugen Doga International Airport remained open, serving air traffic without major disruptions. The administration emphasized the essential role of qualified staff in maintaining flight safety standards during these extreme conditions.
