Cheile Turzii Natural Reserve Visited by Approximately 40,000 Tourists from March to June

Between March and June 2018, nearly 40,000 people—tourists and climbers, both Romanian and foreign—chose to visit the Cheile Turzii Natural Reserve, according to the balance sheet prepared by the County Council and the County Salvamont-Salvaspeo Service.
To make tourist access to the Cheile Turzii Natural Reserve as easy as possible, as part of the county road rehabilitation program carried out by the County Council, works have been completed on DJ 103G from the beginning of the year to date. This includes the asphalt surfacing of the Mihai Viteazu – Cheia – Cheile Turzii and Tureni – DN 1 sections, as well as graveling, ditch restoration, and clearing of culverts on the Sandulesti – Cheile Turzii plateau section.
Regarding the Salvamont Service’s activity, in addition to continuous repairs and improvements on the visiting route, the Cluj mountain rescuers aimed to eliminate the risk of getting lost and to facilitate the traversal of the trail. In this regard, the connecting route between the Cheile Turzii Chalet and the Ciucas Waterfall was marked with a yellow triangle, and various information and thematic panels containing the main visiting rules were rehabilitated or installed at both entrances to the Gorge.
Additionally, bridge number 2 over the Hasdate stream was rebuilt using County Council funds, a new footbridge was completed, and the toll point from Petresti was modernized, etc.
