On March 12, the daily newspaper USA Today published a ranking of the cheapest cities to visit in Europe, and Bucharest occupies the first place.
The ranking published by USA Today is based on an index created annually by PriceofTravel.com. It presents the costs for tourists visiting the cheapest cities in Europe, which include accommodation at a 3-star hotel in a central area, two taxi trips per day, entry to a museum, as well as three meals and three drinks per day. 
Bucharest ranked first, with a cost of 43.8 USD/day. In second place is the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, with a cost of 44.71 USD/day, and in 3rd place is Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, with a cost of 46.35 USD/day.
