Brancusi’s works in Targu Jiu will no longer be touchable by tourists

Starting May 15, the works within the “Constantin Brancusi” Monumental Ensemble in Targu Jiu will no longer be touchable by visitors.
Municipal representatives maintain that the provisions of the municipal councilors’ decision regarding the perimetering of the artworks will only be applied after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Culture.
The decision of the Targu Jiu municipal councilors also prohibits visitors accompanied by pets, individuals with rollerblades, skateboards, and other non-motorized vehicles within the monumental ensemble.
At the same time, local police officers from Targu Jiu will be the ones to identify violations of this municipal council decision, with administrative sanctions ranging between 500 and 2,500 RON.
Local authorities decided to establish these measures after the protective lacquer of the Endless Column was damaged when several tourists scratched messages onto the surface of the artwork.
