Bala, Beius, and Madaras designated as local tourist resorts

On December 4, the Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Business Environment announced that the localities of Bala (Mehedinti county), Beius, and Madaras (Bihor county) have been certified as tourist resorts of local interest.

Currently, in Romania, there are 52 certified tourist resorts of national interest and 90 of local interest.

Located in a depressionary setting, the Bala commune is an ancient settlement, documented since the time of Mircea the Elder, on June 10, 1415. Due to its slightly sulfurous oligometallic mesothermal springs and sapropelic mud, it obtained the status of a balneoclimatic resort four years ago. Additionally, Bala is included in the National Route of Historic Spa Towns and Resorts in Romania.

Beius, with ancient historical resonance and a documentary attestation of nearly 750 years, benefits from natural healing factors such as geothermal water and bioclimate. The main places where tourists can relax are the two public pools and the thermal lido, the landscaped parks, the central area of the city, and the Nimaiesti Valley area, where both banks have been developed as a promenade. Also, the Madaras commune is known for its subsoil rich in geothermal water. Its mineral concentration and temperature are the factors that provide beneficial effects for treating certain conditions.
