The Baia Mare Municipality has signed the contract for the design and execution of the Câmpul Tineretului Aquatic Leisure Complex, an investment project with a total value of approximately €30 million. The objective, partially funded through European funds under the North-West Regional Program, aims to modernize the city’s tourism and leisure infrastructure, with a planned implementation period of 26 months.
The contract signing event took place in the presence of Marcel Boloș, General Director of ADR Nord-Vest, the institution through which funding is managed on the axis dedicated to thermal tourism. According to the official announcement, the contract was signed on February 5, 2026. The total project duration is divided into two stages: 2 months allocated for design and 24 months for the execution of the actual works.
From a financial perspective, the total investment amounts to €30 million (152.7 million RON, including VAT). Of this amount, approximately €12.2 million represents the maximum reimbursable value through the state aid scheme. The contract awarded for design, technical assistance, and execution services is valued at approximately €19.8 million (excluding VAT).
The complex will be built on a land plot exceeding 32,600 sqm, with a footprint of approximately 5,700 sqm. The main building, with a height regime of Basement+Ground Floor+1 Floor and a total floor area of nearly 7,500 sqm, will integrate locker rooms, administrative areas, dining spaces, and relaxation zones. The operating capacity is designed to serve up to 1,500 people during the summer season and approximately 400 people during the cold season, ensuring year-round functionality.
Leisure facilities will include indoor and outdoor pools, slides, an indoor-outdoor connection pool, and interactive water elements. The outdoor area will be landscaped with over 22,000 sqm of green spaces, walkways, sand sports courts, and will feature over 1,100 sunbeds. The project provides high accessibility standards, including four elevators equipped with sound signaling and Braille systems. The infrastructure will be complemented by the Câmpul Tineretului Parking, an adjacent project that will provide 268 parking spaces.
