The AuReferinte.ro project was launched in June 2020 by George Butunoiu and Profit.ro.
The idea is simple: many would like to obtain references about someone, whether for employment or other circumstances. This includes not just employers interested in professional details, but others as well, regarding anyone and anything else: a neighbor, an acquaintance, a future business or leisure partner, etc.
Currently, you only search the Internet, as no other sources exist. However, there, under anonymity, anyone can say anything. As a head-hunter, for instance, I do not take Internet comments about someone into account when conducting a recruitment. In fact, the more information there is on the Internet, the greater the need for clarification, especially if it is contradictory. Because if you want this information to make an important decision, reliable references about someone, directly from the source, can make the difference between something very good and something very bad.
This site is the alternative to Internet information, the only solution (for now) to find out who can give you relevant and credible references, because they come from someone who knows the person in question personally. Essentially, we connect those who have information with those who seek it, without knowing what that information is. And without actually being interested in it. We designed this project as having a civic role, considering that those who have relevant references should share them with others who need them, in good faith, for the good of the community.
The mechanism is simple and uses only public information and public sources, nothing else: the name of the person about whom someone can provide references, social media links, and possibly other public articles on the Internet about that person. No reference and no information about those providing the information, neither on the site nor in discussions with those requesting the references! This is because some of them might prefer a certain discretion and selectivity in offering them, to be able to decide to whom and when to give these references.
In practice, this is where the role of AuReferinte.ro comes in: it acts as an intermediary, directing all requests to the person who has the references, and they decide whether and to whom to respond, what to say, and in what formula and context. This intermediary service is free.
If the project is successful, it will be expanded, in the same formula, to include references about organizations (legal or informal entities: companies, associations, groups, communities, clubs, etc.), not just individuals.
For the project to work, the civic involvement of those who have the information is needed—to write to us and tell us about whom they can provide these references, in full confidentiality, as mentioned, and without telling us what the information and references are. Then we tell them who is requesting them and put them in direct contact, if they so wish.
