The Athenee Palace Hilton hotel in the capital, owned by businessman George Copos, is suspending its activity 106 years after its opening. The measure will be taken during the state of emergency, starting March 23rd.
It is a first for the history of the building in the center of the capital when the hotel closes its activity, a decision that was not taken even during the two World Wars.
“It is a decision we take with a heavy heart, but we are facing an unprecedented situation for us. In 1914, Athenee Palace hosted its first guests. Since then, two world wars, 39 years of communism, a revolution of free people, and many other times of trial, turmoil, harshness, or hope, have written our history. For more than a century, our doors have never closed,” write the representatives of Ana Hotels.
Additionally, ANA Hotels announced that it is also suspending the activity of the Sportul, Ana, and Bradul hotels in Poiana Brasov during the state of emergency, while the Europa hotel and Ana Aslan Health Spa in Eforie Nord are delaying the opening of the summer season.
