The Tourism Law project, initially released for public consultation on the Ministry of Economy’s website in June but subsequently withdrawn, will be revised and could be approved by March 2016, stated Anca Pavel-Nedea, President of the National Authority for Tourism (ANT).
The ANT President also noted that two or three additional tourism offices will be opened abroad next year. Furthermore, ANT will establish a new tourism promotion office for Romania in Los Angeles, USA, and plans to reopen the Barcelona office in Spain.
In September, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Tourism announced revisions to the Tourism Law project following feedback from tourism organizations.
The Federation of Tourism Employers called for a complete overhaul of the legislative act, describing it as incoherent, likening it to the “thesis of a mediocre student,” and claiming it violates constitutional provisions.
