ANT estimates that this year the number of tourists on the coast will increase by up to 8%, and hotel revenues will increase by over 10%

Following discussions with seaside tour operators, Anca Nedea, president of the National Authority for Tourism (ANT), concluded that this year, the total number of tourists on the coast will increase by 5-8% compared to last summer. She also estimates that hotel revenues will increase by over 10%, both due to the higher number of tourists and a slight increase in hotel rates, especially during peak season.
This year, the number of foreign tourists on the coast increased by about 50%. As shown by the National Institute of Statistics, the Romanian seaside recorded 29,600 foreign tourists in 2015, a derisory figure. During the same period, 792,000 Romanians stayed in seaside hotels.
Anca Nedea stated that the largest increase this year is observed in tourists from Israel and Poland, but the number of French and Germans also increased.
An increase of over 10% was also recorded in the case of Romanians working abroad who return in the summer to spend their vacations on the local coast. Most of them came from Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom.
