AIHCB: 16.5% Increase in Passenger Numbers in H1

In the first half of this year, the number of passengers transiting European Union airports increased by 6.2% compared to the same period in 2015, according to data from ACI Europe, the association of European airports.
A large part of this growth was concentrated in medium-sized airports, such as Berlin-Schonefeld – 39.4%, Cologne-Bonn – 19.8%, Bucharest – 16.5%, Dublin – 13.4%, and Barcelona – 12.7%.
In the category of airports with annual traffic of 5 – 10 million passengers, the most significant increases in the first six months of this year were recorded at Berlin SXF – 39.4%, Larnaca – 20.8%, Faro – 18.5%, Ibiza – 17%, and Bucharest OTP – 16.5%.
Passenger traffic in non-EU countries recorded a modest growth of 0.5% in the first 6 months of this year, with significant declines recorded in Turkey and Russia.
