The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) has closed 11 rooms at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bucharest because the walls were dirty, and some pieces of furniture and mattress protectors were stained. Additionally, expired products were found in the kitchen. The accommodation unit was fined 33,000 RON.
ANPC announced on Friday, through a press release, that the institution’s representatives initiated an investigation regarding the compliance with consumer rights by the economic operator S.C. Nemo Investment Vehicle S.A. (Radisson Blu Hotel). On February 10, an inspection team from the Bucharest Municipality Commissariat conducted a control action at the 5-star hotel in the center of the capital.
Following the checks, ANPC commissioners discovered several irregularities in the kitchen area. Specifically, raw materials and semi-finished products with expired consumption dates were being used (sauces, spices, milk, etc.); there were food products without labels containing identification and characterization elements or expiration dates, making it impossible to determine their compliance; meat products were kept in the same refrigeration units as finished products intended to be served as such (processed or whole fruits and vegetables) and packaged dairy products; utensils with an advanced degree of wear and an uncleaned grill were used; ingredients in the menu lists were not translated into Romanian; and solid waste was collected in uncovered containers located in processing areas.
Furthermore, in the accommodation area, violations were found in 11 rooms that were vacant at the time of the inspection, including the existence of dirty walls, the use of furniture with peeled, stained, or torn sections, stained mattress protectors, and deficiencies in informing tourists within the rooms (incomplete information provided only in English).
