ANAT Estimates Number of Tourists in Romania Will Exceed 12 Million in 2017

The total number of tourists choosing destinations in Romania is estimated to exceed 12 million in 2017, a value not reached since 1990, announced the first vice-president of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT), Adrian Voican. Romanian tourism is growing by approximately 10% in 2017.
On the other hand, the number of foreign tourists will reach a record of over 2,600,000.
Romanians have shown an increasing interest in local tourism at the autumn edition of the Romanian Tourism Fair, with the main tourist destinations for the 2017 winter season already having a booking rate of over 90%. The most sought-after destinations were Calimanesti – Caciulata, Baile Felix, Baile Govora, Prahova Valley, and Bran-Moeciu.
For the summer of 2018, early bookings began during the Romanian Tourism Fair, and the resorts leading the top of the reservations are: Mamaia, Eforie Nord, and Jupiter.
Among the external destinations that have shown interest for Romanian tourists are Turkey (Antalya), Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, and Croatia.
During the Romanian Tourism Fair, Bibi Touring Touroperator, which exclusively offers Romanian destinations, provided over 10,000 tourist packages in 100 resorts and destinations in Romania to those interested. During the fair, the agency recorded a 50% increase in sales compared to 2016, and the most successful offer was „One Month Vacation in Romania”: 7 days in Baile Govora, 7 days in Predeal, 7 days in Neptun, and 7 days in the Danube Delta.
Additionally, Christian Tour announced sales of over 3 million EUR during the Tourism Fair, 70% more than the autumn edition of last year.
Paralela 45 recorded sales growth of one-third at the Romanian Tourism Fair compared to November 2016. Thus, the displayed discounts and new destinations launched for next summer increased Paralela 45’s sales by 950,000 EUR during the fair and Black Friday on November 17. Most bookings were made for the winter holidays and for next summer.
For summer 2018, tourists bought from Paralela 45 especially vacations in Greece, Turkey, and Spain, for which the tour operator displayed discounts of up to 50% on accommodation rates, with new destinations available on charter flights to Samos Island, with prices starting from 356 EUR/person, Alanya – from 416 EUR/person, and Durres, Golem, and Vlore – from 385 EUR/person.
