Air traffic at airports in Romania reached a new all-time high in 2025, totaling more than 28.5 million passengers, according to data provided by the Romanian Airports Association. This volume represents an increase of 9.6% compared to the previous year, signaling an acceleration of activity in the local aviation industry.
The country’s most important air hub, Otopeni Airport, recorded the highest traffic volume, surpassing the 17 million passenger threshold, which corresponds to an increase of 7% compared to the previous year. In the national ranking, Cluj Airport is in second place, reporting 3.5 million passengers, followed by Iasi Airport, with 2.2 million passengers.
Developments in 2025 show a higher dynamic than in the previous year; the growth rate of more than 9% contrasts with the 6% advance in 2024. This acceleration confirms that the aviation sector is entering a more alert development phase.
