Between November 2 and 5, 2018, a new event for the promotion of Bucharest and Romania is taking place, featuring 50 top guests—successful content creators from 5 continents who are coming to support Romanian tourist destinations.
#ExperienceBucharest and #ExperienceRomania, the largest independent promotion projects for Romania, now in their fourth edition, have gathered over 300 international guests, including bloggers, journalists, Instagrammers, vloggers, and Twitter specialists. These participants have created high-quality content for the campaigns, promoted Bucharest and various regions of Romania, and generated exposure for Romania worth tens of millions of euros.
“In 2018, although there has been a percentage increase in the number of foreign tourists, the promotion of Romania as a tourist destination remains deficient. We do not have an updated official national promotion website; in fact, it even disappeared from the internet for a while. It lacks an official Instagram or YouTube account or a functional promotion app. All international tourism promotion offices for Romania have been closed. Since 2012, there hasn’t even been a tourism promotion video, and the Ministry of Tourism’s website is only in Romanian. In short, officially we do not exist in terms of international image, and the number of foreign tourists in Romania is among the lowest in all of Europe,” stated the project founder, Tudor Maxim.
All guests will enjoy alternative tours and experiences such as: “The Story of Bucharest,” where participants will discover more than 500 years of history; “Roma Cultural Heritage,” which addresses the sensitive topic of Roma discrimination; “The Real Life of the Giants of Pantelimon,” where participants will discover another side of life in Bucharest; the “Alternative Tour,” which whets the appetite for urban art; the “Communist Tour,” presenting over 40 years of history that shaped the contemporary Romanian State, and many others. The Arch of Triumph will be specially opened for this event.
On November 5, the final day of the project, the most important international conference in Romania dedicated to tourism and social media will be organized at the Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest.
The event will bring together tourism professionals, international and Romanian tourism influencers, journalists, representatives of local authorities from Bucharest and Oradea, as well as representatives of Tourism Promotion Authorities from Thailand, Greece, Dubai, and Austria.
Among them are:
• Tudor Maxim, Founder of #ExperienceBucharest and #ExperienceRomania
• Gabriela Firea, Mayor of Bucharest
• Calin Ile, President of the Hotel Industry Federation of Romania (FIHR)
• Mihai Jurca, President of the Association for Tourism Promotion in Oradea
• Cezar Dumitru, Author of the successful Romanian blog, ImperatorTravel.ro
• Stephen Chrisanthus, Destination Manager for Florida, USA
• Alex Filip, founder of Bucharest City App
• Flavia Voinea, Director of Bucuresti FM
The project is supported by the Bucharest City Hall through the Administration of Monuments and Tourism Heritage and by TAROM – the National Air Transport Company of Romania.
