Corvin Castle in Hunedoara is set to undergo rehabilitation and conservation, with the investment amounting to 5 million EUR.
“The castle will undergo complex consolidation and rehabilitation works in the affected areas, as well as restoration of interior and exterior finishes. The main concern is to preserve the original appearance of the castle; in this regard, the works are being closely monitored by specialists from the Corvin Castle Museum,” according to a statement posted on the official page of the Hunedoara City Hall.
According to the local administration, the objectives to be restored include the Painted Tower or Buzdugan Tower, the Knights’ Hall and the Diet Hall, the Capistrano Tower, the Old Gate Tower, the Bethlen Wing, the Drummers’ Bastion, the Well, the Chapel, the Bear Pit, and the Njeboisia Tower.
The design and execution contract for the restoration and conservation works of Corvin Castle is scheduled to take place over a period of 27 months, with the tender won by an association of three companies. Currently, the builders have approximately 19 months left to complete the works established by the project.
