The landscape of Southern Bucharest will be enriched with a new small-scale mall starting at the end of this year. Located just a few minutes’ walk from the Dimitrie Leonida metro station, the new commercial center is the result of a 10 million euro investment by two Israeli businessmen.
Popesti Leordeni will have a new commercial center – named “La Strada Concept,” this is the first strip mall in a chain of retail projects initiated and developed by businessmen Moshe Turgeman and Tomer Barhom. The Israelis are investing 10 million euros here, with plans to start two other similar projects throughout this year (one in the Militari neighborhood of Bucharest and another in Brasov).
“With a continuously growing population, with over 15,000 new homes to be developed in the coming years and no commercial center in the area, Popesti Leordeni is the perfect location for a project of this kind,” say representatives of La Strada Concept, which is set to open to the public towards the end of this year.
Construction work on the small mall began in early 2016, with the project located in the western part of Popesti, between Amurgului and Oituz streets, a few minutes’ walk from the Dimitrie Leonida metro station.
“La Strada Concept means proximity services within everyone’s reach – bringing back to the forefront the idea of a city center, the place where people want to live, work, meet, and feel good. The concept brings together a wide variety of services: proximity stores, restaurants, cafes, pharmacies, banks, beauty salons, children’s playgrounds,” the project representatives add.
With a built area of 2,500 sqm, La Strada is anchored by an already functional Mega Image store, and its customers will have 150 parking spaces at their disposal. The approximately 30 commercial spaces will have modular areas (between 18 and 100 sqm), with developers promising lower maintenance costs than in the case of a classic mall, while benefiting from similar urban density.
